The Net Generation student learns by interaction and collaboration. Design your online science course to include more than just “lecture”, textbook readings, and tests. Authentic and collaborative activities can be difficult to design for and assess in an online science course. Online classes can meet the course outcomes while establishing a learning community and provide hands-on interaction through both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments. This presentation will include a variety of reflective, collaborative, interactive, and content-related activities that can be tailored for any online course. Activity descriptions, rubrics, and examples of student assignments will be provided. The presenter will also welcome participant contributions. So bring your creative online activities and rubrics to share!
