P336: Waste management in a general chemistry lab

Pilar Montagut Bosque (National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico), Rosa Maria González-Muradás (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, México)

Chemical waste disposal in an efficient manner is an opportunitity to develop teachnig-learning strategies in Green Chemistry. This work focuses on waste generated during microscale experiments at the General Chemistry Lab at the college level, where students present chemical equations that take place in a manner that reinforces learning on chemical equations, balancing of equations and their classification. Additionally, students develop respect for nature while emphasizing the search for alternatives to optimize resources and responsible attitudes towards the environment.
