P491: Tracking attitudinal change in chemistry

The chemistry version of the Colorado Learning Attitudes about Science Survey (CLASS-Chem) tracks how students’ beliefs about learning chemistry and beliefs about the content, structure, and real-world connection of chemistry change over the course of a semester or longer.  CLASS-Chem results can also be used to compare different populations of students and monitor the attitudinal impact of curricular changes.  A comparison of results from different universities and an examination of shifts in beliefs before and after a curriculum modification will be presented.
