When asked about whether or not students like chemistry, the common answers are often centered around combustion, fire, and explosions.  This session will reflect on the following ideas about teaching:  Igniting Your Spark, Fueling Your Fire, Fueling Their Fire, The Daily Burn, Lighting the Fuse, and Passing on the Torch.   I will share experiences and favorites accumulated during twenty seven years of teaching high school chemistry in the public and private education system as well as how extra-curricular chemistry can enhance your teaching and students’ learning.
